This past weekend Robin Cassidy-Duran took the reins of the Oregon Court Reporters Association (OCRA) as president. We are very proud that her peers in the court reporting profession in Oregon elected her to guide OCRA through the coming year.
Robin has over 25 years of freelance court reporting experience, including 10 years as an agency owner, here at CC Reporting & Videoconferencing. She understands the challenges reporters face in the marketplace and appreciates the opportunities advances in technology bring to our industry.
Here are some highlights of what Robin and OCRA will be working on in the coming year:
- legislation requiring a certified court reporter to record the transcript in aggravated murder proceedings
- continued collaboration with the Oregon State Bar’s Military and Veterans Law Section and section chair Mark Ronning on collecting oral histories of Oregon veterans (learn more about the Veterans History Project)
- development of continuing education opportunities through conferences and webinars for Oregon’s court reporters
- recruitment of students to the field of court reporting
As president, Robin will also be working with other state association leaders across the country to promote the court reporting profession and to continue to develop ways court reporters can use technology to provide our clients with better service and instant access to the record.
Congratulations, Robin!
